It is often set in an alternate, futuristic version of 19th century Victorian England steam powered devices – the ‘world gone mad’ as Victorian people may have imagined it. Examples are machines like those in the writing of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, and in television shows such as Dr. Who.
Steampunk HQ has infiltrated the “Grain Elevator”. An 1883 Oamaru stone building, located at the entrance of Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct. Steampunk HQ was founded in 2011 by a group of creative minds (Don Patterson, Jac Grenfell and Brian de Geest), who were passionate about Steampunk, and showcasing it to the public. We are constantly working with talented individuals to collaborate on projects and expand our collection.
