SeaLink Ferries – a Moving Learning Destination

Children’s University partner and sponsor since 2021, SeaLink is our very first moving Learning Destination. Literally!

SeaLink operates two large, fast and comfortable ocean-going catamaran ferries between Cape Jervis on the South Australian mainland and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island.”

It is a short, 45-minute crossing, during which passengers may be lucky enough to spot marine animals, including dolphins, whales, sea eagles and schools of fish.

The ferry crossing offers a glimpse of life on the ocean and takes us back to an era when sea journeys took months instead of minutes!  It is also a beautiful way to travel as it allows us to slow down and see the world through new eyes. What child isn’t amazed by the sheer size of the ocean and the wonder of travelling across water?

In the words of SeaLink, ‘Adults and kids alike will love the amazing wildlife, spectacular coastal scenery, beautiful beaches of Kangaroo Island and the ferry trip makes it feel like you are going overseas!...’

So, what better place to offer Children’s University (CU) members a nautical activity filled with seafaring fun? Members can download a copy of the Activity Booklet before boarding the ferry. Completion of the activities will earn them 30-minutes in their Passports to Learning.

Children’s University Adelaide Sponsor

SeaLink joined Children’s University Adelaide as a sponsor in 2021.

With the support of SeaLink, CU is able to fulfill its goal of supporting and promoting social inclusion at all levels.

By enabling young people in regional South Australia to access the CU program, including school holiday programs and graduation ceremonies, we promote equity of opportunity and establish new pathways for higher education for all children, particularly those affected by disadvantage.

We thank SeaLink for their part in supporting South Australian communities and families by enhancing children’s lives.
