CU @ Open State

As part of CU @ Open State groups of children have be paired with venues to develop 30 year plans.
During Term 3, 150 children have been preparing and will present their final plans to an Executive panel from venues along North Terrace. As part of their research children were visited by a variety of staff and supported in, understanding levels of government and the impacts of business. CU @ Open State provides the opportunity for children to be connected to Executive staff and gain insight into decision-making. The Department of Premier and Cabinet has supported Children’s University Adelaide to engage with category 1-3 schools from northern Adelaide for CU @ Open State. Partnering schools and venues are:
- Art Gallery of South Australia paired with Horizon Christian School
- South Australian Museum paired with Swallowcliffe Primary School
- Zoos SA paired with Mark Oliphant College
- Singapore Airlines- South Australia paired with Wandana Primary School
- State Library of South Australia paired with Salisbury North Primary School
- History SA paired with Swallowcliffe Primary School
- Migration Museum paired with Swallowcliffe Primary School
- Adelaide Symphony Orchestra paired with Lake Windemere Primary School
- University of Adelaide paired with Hope Christian College
Coinciding with the event there has also been a number of executive government positions that children could apply for. Successful applicant will be taking over on Friday 21st October. Look out for our new Co- South Australian Mental Health Commissioner, Co- Chief Executive of DPC and Co- Premier!
Children’s University Adelaide also has a public event as part of the Open State program that we would like to invite you to, this is an opportunity for adults to see students in action. CU @ Open State is inviting the public to come along and listen to children ask their questions to an expert panel and respond to the discussion theme:
“What are the characteristics of a great leader? How do you think technology may impact leadership in 30 years?”
The Q & A is being held on Friday 21 October from 1-2pm at the Space Theatre, Festival Centre and you can register your attendance by clicking here.
