CU Newcastle – ‘an afternoon of learning with CU’
CU Newcastle piloted an ‘afternoon of learning with CU’ in our Cessnock region of ten schools last Tuesday and Thursday.
Millfield Public School acted as a host for participating children and families from Nulkaba, St Patricks, Laguna, and Cessnock West Public School and Abermain Public School acted as host for participating children and families from Cessnock East, Kurri Kurri, Cessnock, and Kitchener Public School.
On two individual days, each host had four activities with children rotating around every 20 minutes experiencing Cake Making, Zumba, Cessnock Wood turners association, Music/Percussion, Archaeology, Rock n Roll dancing and Creative Art. Activities were provided by CU Newcastle, The University of Newcastle and schools community providers. There were approximately 60 children in attendance with most families travelling to a host school. The students formed small group’s made up of a mixture from each schools. Great to see a beautiful mashup of school uniforms.
CU Newcastle will look to work similarly with Cessnock schools in Term 3 & 4. Details to come. For some images of the day please visit the Abermain Public School Facebook Page by clicking here.
